CSU’s Union Building wins the Ohio Historic Preservation Office Awards!
This past Saturday, September 28, 2013, Arkinetics, Liberty Development, and Cleveland State University attended the annual Ohio Historic Preservation Office (OHPO) awards ceremony in Columbus. The team celebrated the Union Building’s Preservation Merit for the restoration and renovation of the 1912 building at 1836 Euclid Avenue. The Preservation Merit Award is for preserving Ohio’s prehistory, history, architecture, or culture. The team was honored to be recognized at the luncheon among the 2013 recipients.
Special recognition was given to Judith Kitchen, technical preservation services manager for the Ohio Historic Preservation Office, as she gets set to retire in November. Kitchen’s role with the OHPO office has been to review applications for a federal Rehabilitation Investment Tax Credit and provide design assistance to Ohio’s Main Street communities. She played a key role in developing the funding for the Union Building and for many of the beautiful historic buildings getting recognition at this program. Congratulations to Judith Kitchen and to the 2013 Award Recipients of the OHPO awards!
